Quilchena - Design Process & Progress

Revitalizing the damp and shaded Vancouver backyard was our main goal in this landscaping project.  The existing lawn struggled with dampness and mud, especially during the fall and winter months.  The concrete paver patio had a steep slope.  Our aim was to create a modern, clean, and usable outdoor living space that beautifully complemented the rest of the property.

Project recap video

Our comprehensive solution involved patio leveling and the installation of large-format porcelain tiles, ensuring a consistent and appealing aesthetic throughout the year.  The project introduced a new relaxation zone, featuring a well-designed deck, built-in corner bench, and a fire pit.  We extended the patio slightly, creating a walkway using overlapping architectural concrete pads to connect to the parking area.  The unique planters and base for the corner bench were crafted using narrow slate tiles in a vertical pattern.

Carefully selected materials for this landscaping project include Enmon Ark Anthracite porcelain paving, TimberTech Azek Vintage Coastline decking, and Montauk Black Slate tiles for the planters.

The final outcome surpassed our expectations, making the design come to life in a truly rewarding way.  Click on any image below to explore more of the completed project photos.
